Virtual Open Weekend
We usually host three Open Weekends a year, where prospective families gather at the school, for a taste of life to come. The boys spend the night in the boarding house, getting to know the current DBCS boys, and potential future DBCS boys. Parents are taken on a tour of the school, and are encouraged to ask questions to the boy tour guides. This is followed by a braai where everyone can interact with other families and the staff. The boys sit their Academic tests (English and Mathematics), followed by a Music Workshop, and a Voice Test. Collectively the group embarks upon a short hike as a way of introduction to a changed lifestyle. Members of staff will give an overview of the school and its offerings, and chat to parents/boys about Academics, Music, and Boarding. The weekend wraps up with a concert performed by the Drakensberg Boys Choir, with the prospective boys joining on stage to perform 'Shosholoza' (to the surprise of their parents!). It is an exciting weekend, structured to assist both parents and boys to make a fully informed choice as to whether DBCS is the correct school for them.
Join us on this Virtual Journey, and feel free to ask questions!
Welcome to the Drakensberg Boys Choir School
A unique one-of-a-kind school.
There are many boys’ choirs across the world but none as unique as the Drakensberg Boys Choir School. A boarding school, which uses choral music as a significant vehicle for holistic education.
