FAQ
Does the school offer scholarships?
New boy bursaries are limited. It is difficult for the DBCS to invest in a new boy who has not as yet proved himself. DBCS has a limited number of bursaries available. It is the parent’s responsibility to request bursary application forms and to ensure that all the necessary documents are submitted by no later than August of the preceding year.
What is a normal school day?
Every day, the boys have seven academic lessons, including Mathematics, Languages, Economics, Natural and Social Sciences, IT, Art and Music subjects, as well as two hours of choir rehearsals, and sporting activities.
What support is offered?
From an Academic point of view, there is an Academic Support Programme for English and Maths on Tuesday afternoons; and for Maths, English and Afrikaans on Thursday afternoons.

Every boy at DBCS is a member of a tutor group that is made up of six or seven boys across the Grade 4 – 9 age spectrum. A significant feature of these groups is that the mentor of every New Boy is in the same group. A staff member co-ordinates and oversees the group, and his/her role is to develop an active interest in every aspect of the boy’s school life; to guide, nurture and inspire him as he faces the daily challenges of choir school life and to be the champion for the boy’s overall well-being. Every staff tutor makes a comment on the boy’s termly report.

Furthermore, each boarding house has two houseparents who are always available for emotional support. The school also makes the services of a local Psychologist available, if needed.
What sports are offered?
The school offers swimming, cross-country, rugby, soccer, cricket, horse-riding, and mountain-biking. Boys often participate in triathlons and open-water swims such as the Midmar Mile; and are exposed to fun nearby activities such as tubing and hiking. Due to the remote location of the school and time constraints, the school doesn't participate in regular interschools fixtures, but does compete against local schools wherever possible.
